Behnkes Free Lectures at Beltsville
Coming Up: Saturday, February 16th, 2008 - 1:00 pm at Beltsville:
Behnke Nurseries’ Chairman of the Board, John Peter Thompson shares his years of gardening experience. Having grown up at the nursery at Beltsville, he learned first-hand from his Grandfather Albert Behnke about “the right tool for the job.” John is a nationally known speaker on invasive plant and environmental issues and his presentations are always opinionated and entertaining.
“Getting Ready for Spring: Everything you Need to Grow”
The tools and techniques to get your garden ready in the “off season.” A good garden begins with good soil, and the right tools make gardening a pleasure, not a chore. If you don’t know a tree spade from a pitchfork, then this is the talk for you.

Hi,
I did not receive your newsletter with the lectures listed and have just now been able to get onto your website. I am very disappointed that you are no longer having 2 lectures/day. I and some garden club or Master Gardeners go to your lectures, but that is a long way just for 1 hour. Maybe if the lectures are longer it would help. With gas at $2.93/gal it is very disappointing to only get 1hr/day.
I have enjoyed your lectures in the past, and it may mean that I cannot continue to attend because of the cost.

Hi Elaine,
I’m sorry you missed our newsletter, if you would like to sign up there is a form on our main website at behnkes.com and we will add you to our mailing list.
The decision to only have 1 lecture per weekend was a trade off since we will be running the lectures year round in 2008, where in the past we ended them around May.
I hope you can still attend since there will always be somthing going on each Saturday at Behnkes.
Thanks
Larry Bristow
